This overview is designed for infant/toddler assistants, substitutes, and other adults who may be working with infants and toddlers in a Montessori environment. This overview is designed to give support staff a better understanding and implementation of the Montessori philosophy and method, as well as a deeper understanding of typical infant/toddler behavior and best practices within the Montessori infant/toddler environment. This workshop could also be considered excellent orientation for new infant/toddler staff members in addition to administrators, admissions directors, and board members of schools who are interested in better understanding the Montessori model of infant/toddler education.
The Infant/Toddler Assistant Overview will include:
- Overview of the Montessori Philosophy including Planes of Development and Key Sensitive Periods
- The adult’s role in the toddler environment
- Basic behavior management and supervision
- Preparation of the environment
- Working with the lead teacher
- Communication with parents
- Infant/toddler care
