ANN NEUBERT ENRICHMENT SERIES

“Weaving Language, Literacy and Art with Imaginative Story”

Day One: “Connecting our Montessori Curriculum to Current Research in Reading”
Day Two: “Connecting Individual Learning Styles in Reading to Artistic Explorations in Story Writing”

The first day workshop will define the five critical skills necessary in building a firm foundation for early reading and language development. It will offer examples of assessments, instructional strategies, and curriculum materials that have been successfully integrated into the Montessori classroom. It will include new and exciting lessons, which support struggling readers and students with learning differences.

The second day workshop will lead participants into a new program Discovering Story through Art. This method allows students to use ideas developed from imagination and intuition to become authors and illustrators of their own original stories.

Participants will create a variety of watercolors as a diving board to form characters, settings, and story lines. They will have an opportunity to express amazing narratives and surprise endings.  The workshop will be an incredibly engaging book making experience.  Expect laughter. Dress for fun.

From the tools offered in both workshops participants will gain a new understanding of the importance of spatial literacy as students learn to read and write.
