MONTESSORI METHOD EARLY CHILDHOOD OVERVIEW
This five-day overview, formerly offered through Seacoast Center for Education, consists of 45 hours of instruction and provides an in-depth introduction to the Montessori Method for Early Childhood. Lectures, demonstrations, and discussions cover traditional areas such as Theory, Methods, Practical Life (Everyday Living), Sensorial, Language, Math, and Cultural Subjects, presented by Montessori educators with many years of accumulated classroom and teacher education experience.
This overview meets the requirements for those individuals seeking admission to an American Montessori Society (AMS) Elementary certification program who do not hold Early Childhood (2.5 – 6) certification from a MACTE accredited institution or program.
In addition to Montessori elementary student applicants, this overview has also proven valuable for administrators, admissions directors, and board members of schools, or assistants, substitutes, and parent volunteers in Montessori environments seeking a more extensive introduction into the Montessori Early Childhood classroom than that provided within the two-day Overviews.
On-campus housing is available for this event Sunday through Thursday at reasonable rates (contact the institute for details – meals are not included). On-campus residents also have access to the Bennett Center athletic facility for a daily fee. This modern facility offers an Olympic size swimming pool, nautilus and weight room, racquetball courts, a running track and even a rock climbing wall. There is also a fresh water pond with walking trails on-campus and the ocean and local beaches are nearby.
